Eighth-grader Ethan Isaac is looking forward to the soccer season, but he gets a shock when he finds out that their new coach is Ms. Brezinka, his tough seventh grade science teacher--some of the players quit the team, but Ethan does not have that option, and he soon learns that Ms. Brezinka is as demanding a soccer coach as she was a teacher.

When budget cuts lead to the elimination of Delano Middle School's girl soccer team, Melina Stern and the other seventh and eighth graders are invited to try out for the high school varsity team--but the older players clearly do not want the middle schoolers around, and the girls are having trouble playing as a team.

Tess returns to Winterfall to compete in a snowboarding event and her friend Ana is glad to see her and her friend Sofie acts strange.

In order to play soccer, three girls have to play for an arch rival team.
